Health Professionals Clinic

Health professionals dedicate their lives to caring for others. First-line health professionals, second-line providers, tertiary care givers, administrators, and executives — all can face high-pressure environments, long hours, and emotionally demanding situations every day.

Over time, these stressors can take a significant toll on mental health, leading to burnout, anxiety, depression, compassion fatigue, or vicarious trauma. You Care for Others. Who Cares for You?

Our therapists have lived and breathed healthcare - hospital, clinic, group home, and cancer care systems. Now we want to give back to you. This is your dedicated space to receive mental health support from someone like you.

Why Specialized Support Matters

A Clinic by Healthcare Professionals, for Healthcare Professionals

You dedicate yourself to caring for others. Maybe you’ve been there in the emergency room, ICU, clinic, lab, patient home, mobile service vehicle, or other frontline space. You’ve seen suffering, loss, and moments that don’t leave you when the shift is over.

At Serene Woods Psychotherapy, we provide a space where your experience is understood — not just by someone trained in therapy, but by someone who has been there. Our Clinic Mission is simple: to help you navigate the emotional and moral weight of your work (or other mental health needs), so you can continue caring without losing yourself.

We understand:

  • Feeling exhausted yet unable to rest

  • Carrying the impact of patient loss or critical incidents

  • The slow, heavy build-up of stress and moral distress

  • Feeling unseen or unable to talk about the work you do

  • Pressure of work and impact on relationships and life balance

You are not alone in this. You deserve care, compassion, and support tailored to your world.

Your wellbeing matters. Whether you choose to meet in person or online, our clinic is welcoming, respectful, and flexible — designed to fit around your unpredictable schedules and the realities of healthcare life.

Our Approach

At Serene Woods Psychotherapy, our Healthcare Professionals Clinic was created with a deep respect for the people who spend their days caring for others. Whether you are at the bedside, behind the scenes, or supporting the system in another essential way, the work you do can be meaningful—but also exhausting, heavy, and at times, isolating. We offer a space where you don’t have to hold it all together, and where your experiences can be met with understanding, not expectation.

We begin gently, with a conversation. Together, we take the time to understand what your days have been like, what you’ve been carrying, and how it has been affecting you—both at work and in your personal life. Many healthcare professionals come to us feeling burned out, emotionally stretched, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. There is no need to have the “right words”—we move at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you.

Our approach is integrative and deeply informed by lived clinical experience. Our therapists bring decades of combined experience working within healthcare settings themselves, which means they understand not only the emotional impact of this work, but also the environment it happens in—the pace, the pressure, the moral distress, the system demands, and the moments that stay with you long after a shift ends. This practical, real-world understanding is woven into how we work together.

We draw from a range of evidence-based therapies—including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Emotion Processing Therapy, and more—selecting and adapting approaches based on what actually fits your experience, your nervous system, and your goals. Therapy here is not rigid or one-dimensional; it is responsive, collaborative, and grounded in what is most helpful for you in the moment.

This space is not only for processing what has been hard—it is also for reconnecting with yourself. We offer steady, compassionate support as you navigate stress, difficult moments, or the cumulative weight of your role. Along the way, we share practical tools, insights, and strategies to help you care for yourself in ways that feel realistic within the demands of your work.

As therapy unfolds, we continue to walk alongside you—checking in, adjusting, and making space for what changes over time. We also support you in building boundaries, restoring energy, and finding small ways to come back to yourself, even within a busy and demanding life.

At Serene Woods, we know that being the one others rely on can make it hard to reach for support. You don’t have to carry it alone here.
